Are you at a crossroads, feeling stuck or finding it hard to cope right now? It might be the right time to start counselling and one of the best things you’ll ever decide to do.
At difficult times, it might be hard to talk to friends and family and although it can be daunting to take that first step, counselling can provide a confidential, non – judgemental place to talk and make sense of what you’re going through and increase your understanding of yourself and your values and strengths so that you can find a way forward. No matter what you are going through, things can change for the better.
My role is to support you with whatever issue you bring. I offer therapy to adults and young people.
Whether you are experiencing stress, anxiety, depression, loss, chronic illness, relationship difficulties, or a general feeling of being lost, I work in a way that suits your individual needs and together we will take the time to work through your problems at your own pace. My approach is integrative but has a person-centred base which means that I believe that fundamentally you know what is right for you and I will support you to find your own answers. Some people find it helpful to work creatively as a way of expanding the opportunities for understanding their difficulties but it is always their choice to do so. In addition,
Experience
I’m a professional counsellor with over 20 years of experience of working with a wide range of people in the private and voluntary sectors including Employee Assistance Programmes, counselling for childhood and adult abuse, therapy with international students and refugees and loss and bereavement work. I am also a school counsellor and play therapist and am not able to see children in private practice.
Clinical Supervision
I have a certificate in clinical supervision and offer a supportive, collaborative approach. My supervisees come from a range of approaches and settings, including private practice, universities, schools, children in care teams and charities.
How Do We Start?
In our first meeting we will see if we can work together. I’ll discuss your situation with you and what you would like to gain and explain the way I work. It’s very important that you choose the right counsellor for your needs and there is no obligation to continue after this session. Please do not hesitate to call or email me if you have any questions about counselling.
