As a sports therapist my practice includes the Identification and assessment of injury and risk factors associated with participation in exercise and competitive and/or recreational sport. I work with you on formulating strategies to prevent sports and exercise injury. This involves evaluating your responses and modifying the strategies accordingly. I feel intuition plays a big role in my work, tuning in to the individual and creating a safe environment for them to communicate their needs.
My career started in the Fitness industry, doing both 1 to 1 sessions and leading classes. I learnt the structure and function of the human body, and of health, disease, disorder and dysfunction. I studied a variety of approaches to sports and exercise injury assessment and intervention, and the dynamic relationships within the human body of the neuromuscular, musculoskeletal, cardiovascular and respiratory systems within a sport, exercise and rehabilitation environment.
Each of my clients has their own unique pattern of growth and development related to the pre-adolescent, adolescent and adult sports person. My experience as a personal trainer and sports therapist enables me to influence physiological and structural change following an injury or trauma.
